One is domestic, has many subspecies types, and breeds.

They also share intelligence, are born into a domestic mindset, and cannot survive in the wild naturally. (Same goes with food diet)

The other is wild, has few subspecies, and few breeds.

They also form a strong pack in which have no tolerance for new or low members, it's rare to have them in a domestic mindset alone, and they need meat and the ability to hunt which is only in the wild.

Again...

They aren't the same, they just are in a similar species group.
